What I Believe!
Setting Up My Clients For Success:
I keep it simple and help people sort through all the jargon and info out there. I recommend making small but realistic changes based on each person’s lifestyle, while keeping them challenged at the same time.
Knowledge Is Power:
When people truly understand WHY they are making a certain lifestyle change, it becomes more meaningful and leads to enduring change.
Doing It The “Healthy Way”:
I want to help people to reach all of their health and wellness goals, but not at any cost! I don’t do fad diets or quick fixes as these types of programs can be dangerous to a person’s physical and psychological health. And, those methods don’t help in the long run. I can show you how to reach your goals safely without risk of rebound. The best part is: YOU’LL BE PROUD OF IT!
Having Fun In The Process:
If you’re not having fun along the way, it’s unlikely you’ll stick to it in the long run. I put a priority on making my fitness & nutrition programs and plans enjoyable so it doesn’t feel like a chore or a punishment. My programs are designed to be considerate of peoples’ preferences. Secondly, I don’t believe that you need to give up all the guilty pleasures in life to be healthier. It’s all about moderation and about the consistency of your positive changes over time.
About My Credentials And Experience…
I hold a diploma in Natural Nutrition from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition and I also have a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics from The University of Ottawa. This education, along with over 7 years of experience in the fitness industry, enables me to make key connections between nutrition and fitness. I understand the challenges people face in achieving a balance between the two in their everyday lives.
In our fast-paced world, there’s only so much time in a day and for many people, nutrition and fitness become neglected. Finding ways to make positive changes can be overwhelming. But I can help show you the path to make it happen! It will take some effort, but I promise you IT WILL BE WORTH IT!
My Own Story: It’s Personal!
In my second year studying Human Kinetics, I became a certified personal trainer and worked at a gym for the first time. I gobbled up everything fitness-related. I started taking strength training seriously, and my passion for nutrition grew as I began to idolize the bodies of those Oxygen Magazine fitness models.
After graduating from university, I signed up for my first bikini and figure competition which took my training and nutrition to another level. I placed very well at my first show, and this fed the fire in me to continue training for fitness competitions and to live a “body building” lifestyle.
Over the next 12 months between fitness competitions and photoshoots, I would bounce back and forth between super strict dieting to the total opposite with my food. My body weight was up and down like a yoyo that year. Little did I know the BIG mistakes I was making and how this type of dieting and weight fluctuation would adversely affect my physical and emotional health in the next year to come. I thought my body could do anything…
So when was the breaking point? After my last show, the months of overtraining and dieting took their toll and I was clearly burned out. I wasn’t “me” anymore; I even dreaded the thought of going to the gym.
I knew that things had to change.
I realized that my lack of knowledge about food during my competition days led me to try out any nutritional tips and advice because I didn’t know any better. I also learned the consequences of overtraining, and that my body was not invincible. I knew it was time to focus on my health, so I began my own research where I dove into every alternative heaIth resource online I could find. Wanting to learn, even more, I enrolled in the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition (CSNN). I wanted knowledge about nutrition and the body from a holistic perspective and a reliable source.
Studying at CSNN was one of the best decisions of my life. While obtaining my diploma, I learned a great deal and completely healed myself from the inside out. I became the “happy” me again. I now had a new calling to share my knowledge with others, empowering them to take charge of their health and get fit the “healthy way” without harming their bodies.
